A film about the unique horse

B’Art and Sophie Dia Pegrum (www.sophiepegrum.com) are collaborating on a film about the unique and deeply historic horse culture of Kyrgyzstan. This artful documentary is a portrait of Kyrgyz horse lifestyle and customs, with a focus on youth and how they will carry their intangible cultural heritage into the future. Shooting began in June 2015 with research in the Naryn and Issyk Kul regions and the production phase will culminate and intersect with Б’Art’s “Nomadic Art Camp 2016” project, where local and international artists are invited to experience and respond to Kyrgyz nomadic horse culture on a journey across the landscape. Sophie is an award winning film director and documentary cinematographer who has produced and shot films in the Antarctic, at the North Pole and in the Himalayas. This film continues Horsefly Films "Rare Equine Trust" a series of documentaries focussed on rare horses and fragile equine cultures. (www.rareequinetrust.com)
